The Loire rise in the south of Auvergne. It is long of kilometres and is the longest river of France. The Allier rises in the centre of France and tumultuous waters is at the origin of the exceptional natural site: the Gorges de l'Allier. South of Pradelles, cyclists can follow relatively traffic-free routes through Langogne, then the D which slopes gently down from the Col du Thort towards Villefort and on to the Mediterranean plains.
